I love to surf blogs. I found this one yesterday. I know we were in a cult. I know most, if not all, of us were abused in some way. If I had been sent to the treatment center mentioned in this blog, I don't think I would have survived. Check out this gal's story, start at the bottom and read up. Have tissues on hand. So much we are different, so much we are the same. www.63days.com/~G ...yeah i crossposted...

Thankyou so much for that blog GH it was truly riviting, I am addicted...so sad. Isn't it horrible how what people will do to thier children for punishment/reformation can not even be legally done to murderers and rapists....

GH Did you read today's post? Maybe it was yesterday (06/01 or 06/02) Any thoughts? I was a little surprised about the mention of Jeebus.

GH Did you read today's post? Maybe it was yesterday (06/01 or 06/02) Any thoughts? I was a little surprised about the mention of Jeebus. Yes, I have kind of followed the forum over there. It's too much of a free for all for me to join in. From what I have gathered Alli is from Utah and has a strong LDS background. And so do most of the people who are her biggest supporters. So knowing that I guess it fits into context. Here's the thing for me about 63 days.... Allis is my age. She went through her program about the same time I went through Meehan's. I started to try to write out what happened for me but I can't. I know she says she has the benefit of her journal, but it cannot be that detailed. No youth writes that way. Even if I had the benefit of a day to day journal there's no way I could recall the details like she does. I don't doubt that the abuse occured, I just think she may be writing fiction based on fact. You know? Some of it just doesn't ring true for me. But then again, there are months and months that I don't recall about Crossroads/Pathway/Lifeway until someone brings it up. Maybe I have too much blocked.... Or I'm just old. I don't know..

I have followed the story since you posted it here. I know what you mean about her LDS background but I guess I thought she was coming from a different place. The story is compelling but then from (what seemed to me to be) out of the blue she is comparing one kid fading the heat for all of them by carrying that rock to the atonement of JC. "It strengenthed my testimony of the Lord and his dying for us," she says. Whoa! My head spun 360 degrees around my neck when I read that.
I am SO glad you said that about the story being a little too polished and so distinctly remembered. I don't doubt the abuse either but I did wonder the same thing. It will be interesting to see where the story goes from here.
