So, a few months ago I decided it would be fun to do the PF Chang's Rock n Roll marathon. So for three months, I've been getting my ass out of bed at 5:00 in the morning to go running/walking three to four times a week. Except for the last 2...I've been sicker than hell. Doctor tells me it's allergies...bullshit. I don't have allergies, this is a damn cold, or sinus infection or something. But whatever.
Now I'm sitting here and my marathon is tomorrow. I have only run 1 time in the last three weeks and tomorrow morning I have to get up and try to go 13.1 miles (half-marathon). What the hell was I thinking? I am freaking out.
Now, I know there's no way in hell I can run the whole thing. My training for three months wasn't enough for that. I'm planning to run/walk it....with most of that probably walking. Even if I end up walking the whole thing...oh well, at least I finish, right? Well, yes and no. I just don't want to be last. I also don't want to be out there on the street walking when they come through and open the roads back up. There is a 4 hour time limit, I have to finish in 4 hours. I'm pretty confident I can do that...before I got sick. Now, I'm not so sure. I have short legs, I can't walk as fast as normal people.
And they tell you to get a good night sleep before the race. Ha. Fat chance, I am so fucking nervous there's no way.
Today I went to the expo to pick up my info, race number, etc, they were selling all kinds of crap, including t-shirts. One of the shirts said, "this sounded like a good idea three months ago". It was perfect, I should have bought it.
Anyway. I'm sitting here home...drinking WATER to hydrate myself and it's starting to hit me just what I got myself into. So maybe, at this time tomorrow, I'll have finished the race. (by the way it starts in central phoenix and ends at ASU, seriously.) Either that or I'll be in the hospital.
So, I'll fill you guys in on how it goes. Wish me luck if you see this before tomorrow morning.
