There is a lady that I work with who is crazy. She is not like any person I have ever met in my life. If each one of you guys were to pick out a quality in a person that drives you the most crazy and gets on your nerves the most, and then we all put that list together...this lady would have every single one of those qualities. Seriously.
In addition, she also has this sort of fun-house mirror distorted reality where she will think something in her head and then by the time it gets to her mouth, it comes out completely different than she intended it, and then when you call her on it, she doesnt get it, because she still heard it the way she though it? Does that make sense?
She got in trouble a couple months ago during a conversation w/co workers about the rapist in Chandler...."I tell my kids never to open the door to someone who's black or Mexican." Now, after she was called out by HR and upper management regarding her completely offensive comment, she still didn't get it. "But that's not what I meant." My reply, "But that's what you said, regardless of how you meant it, you need to just own the fact that what came out of your mouth was offensive." "But that's not what I meant." Me: I give up. It's like trying to reason with a schizophrenic. And that's just one example.
So today, she's talking to another person here at work about that woman having a birthday and getting old and whatnot. The crazy psycho says, "Yeah, well, age is just a number, I really don't care that much about it, but if I was single, had no kids and lived by myself then it would REALLY bother me." I just ignored it, the thing is, I am all three of those things, and she knows it and it drives her absolutely crazy that I'm not out hunting for a husband every night. She think's something is wrong w/me for not having my only life's dream to grow up and marry a man that will tell me what to do. The worst part about it? She doesn't get it. She doesn't do it on purpose and cannot comprehend how what comes out of her mouth could possibly be offensive to someone. Same as the last situation. Because that's not what she meant.
So I don't bother. But it still pisses me off just the same.
