I was just wondering...who owns the publishing rights to the Bible? If someone buys a bible, who gets the profit?

good question.
I don't think it's a copyrighted thing, though. I think a lot of written works, once they reach a certain age, lose copyrights. It seems like it's easier to get older/classic works at a lower price (or free in electronic form), and they generally come in a huge number of different versions.
But I'm not sure. I'm probably just spouting nonsense. :-)
