So I was minding my own business eating some homemade chips and salsa on Saturday when, CRUNCH! My last molar on the left decided to declare WWIII on my face. It was the most sickening, nauseating pain I've ever known. Worse than a migraine.

So I go to the dentist today(I love my dentist. I am terrified of dentists, but mine rocks the casbah), and I need a filling because I have a cavity(my first filling, ever!). This is not the bad news. The bad news is that the x-ray reveals that my wisdom tooth on that side is FUCKING SIDEWAYS!!!! And it's also caused some irritation and inflamation of the tissue surrounding my poor little molar which turned into a nasty little infection. He put me on amoxicillin, but he said there's still a 50/50 chance that I'll need a root canal.

My dentist guy looked at me and said, "how do not notice this going on? I mean, this did not just happen overnight." And I told him, "look I've had kids, tattoos, piercings, and multiple breaks. I feel a toothache, I take Tylenol and go on about my business." Never again. On a good note he said that by clearing this up, my frequent migraines might dwindle down, which is always a good thing. Wow, what a rant. If you read this far down you get an e-high five!

Oh and I'm getting knocked the hell out and having my bottom two widom teeth pulled on Friday(the other one is turned too, but not as bad as the left side). Please wish me luck cause I'm really nervous and scared. However, the vicodin does help with that a little...

owwww, damn! sorry to hear about the pain you're going through, WD. Those back teeth can be such a b!tch.

I had my (4) wisdom teeth removed several years ago, and I don't remember any pain associated with it, just being completely knocked out and waking up very groggy the next day. (Full anesthesia is a beautiful thing. ;D)

I hope everything goes well for you, and that you don't have to have a root canal. Those suck.

I'm kind of an anti-dentite myself, all the dentists I've had so far (as an adult) have turned out to be complete tools. I'm really glad you've found a good one!

I had my wisdom teeth out when I was in the cult. Knocked out for the surgery--no pain meds afterward. It really wasn't that bad.

Just make sure you clean out the holes with the salt water and syringe. : )

Ouch is right and if it makes you feel any better, I've had teeth issues too.
Hope it all works out- It's pretty unbelievable the type of low grade pain teeth can cause.

Hey I had my wisdom teeth out 3 1/2 yrs ago, and have had monsterous headaches and jaw pain whick affects my neck and upper back muscles. My jaw pops when I talk eat etc. and that is what seems to cause it. It is a very common problem after dental work. I wouldn't do it unless the teeth are already moving and causing problems. Insurance almost never pays for treatment and suing the dentist has no effect. Also there is no way to fix it really except to drug you when the pain gets too bad and you normally have to see like 6-7 drs before getting a good diagnosis and someone who believes your pain since tmj sufferers look fine.

I did get them pulled on 8/31 and I just finally was able to go back to class today. Awful, awful experience. Doctors and me just aren't friends. When did they all start taking the oath to be patronizing dicks?

I'll bet you there's no Customer Service Class in dental school. They are a business. And to work at Kmart or Denny's, one time smarting off to a customer and you're fired. Stinking dentists are in our mouths.
I want to be spoken to like a child. My ideal dentist would say, "Okay there is going to be a little poke, hold still." Yeah right, in my dreams.
Dentists are weird, but they know that we have to go or rot.
