Today I was riding my bike home from the beach and as I crossed an alley, I saw a car heading right toward me. Everything is in slow motion from here and I scream "Oh, Jesus Christ!!!" right as the car hits the frame of my bike on the right (I was pedaling and my right leg is higher than where the car hit my bike). I am pushed a foot or more away from the car and I am still on my bike that then loudly peels away from license plate of the car. Somehow I manage to jump the bike after it hits my leg and I stand there in shock as the woman driving gets out of the car freaking out. What a fucking lucky duck I am. I just can't get over how I screamed what I did since I am obviously not particularly religious.

Wow Mzd! You really were lucky. I'm glad you're ok (are you ok?). That's a scary situation.
And, for the record, I'm not religious at all, but Jesus Christ is one of my favorite ... um.... curses, I guess that's the only thing I can call it. That and "Oh Fuck". If I had been in such a situation I would have yelled one of those. LOL
Anyway, really glad you're ok. Is the driver (or her insurance) buying you a new bike?

Mzd- so glad you are okay! It wasn't your time I guess. More good times to be had. Hope you get a new bike out of it. Did you get her insurance info?

Hey...I really hope you're ok.
My favorite mid-crisis verbalization is " OH, FOR FUCK'S SAKE!!"
Go ahead and use it if it ever helps.

Thanks for the well wishes! LOL
I am really okay. A fat bruise that wraps around my left leg and a depressing awareness of my mortality is only eased by my elation at my luckiness for not being hurt very badly and that my husband was there to help out. He got the lady's info and all but my rusty K-mart special Huffy beach cruiser (I heart my bike!) is fine after he bent it back into shape. I actually rode it home afterwards so I wouldn't be afraid to get back on it again.
I'll try and remember those expletives next time!

Jesus! I'm glad you're okay. I probaly would've made the situation worse by kicking her car or something. Purely out of panic and being scared though.

Jesus! I'm glad you're okay. I probaly would've made the situation worse by kicking her car or something. Purely out of panic and being scared though. LOL! I am surprised that I didn't go off. I briefly thought about it tho. Just didn't have enough time to convert it from my mind to my foot kicking her car. I was more pissed when she wasn' t in front of my face.
