I have all of the respect in the world for someone who either develops his own or adopts someone elses principles and is able to adhere to them and not be a hypocrite. But, what I can do without are those who mindlessly quote the bible and brandish it as though it were a .45. It amazes me that they see themselves as anything but boring dorks. I hate when I have a casual conversation with some one and out of no where they ask me if I believe in Jesus. You wanna be a Christian? Fine. But if I don't , don't try to save me. I have a right to burn in hell if I want to(not that I believe in that either). I don't have a problem with anyone who is a christian or is religious but God damn(sorry) not everyone wants to hear about it!

I dunno about 'S'ize...but I got.. Bastids tryna over-the-phone baptize with their over-christianized,-ultra-conservatized diatribe, makin my blood rise, and my mind geographicalize where they might reside, thinkin i maybe wanna cannibalize (only on their thighs) for disturbin my peace where I communalize, but ill yell back dont try to denaturalize, criticize, exorcise, or make me feel dehumanized, sayin I'm over-sexualized. I think you've jus internalized all the hate, fear and how you feel disillusionized, cause even though youve overfamiliarized yourself with religion and all its' prophetisized, you still fantasize, about a guy with a guy inside.. why the fuck am I tryna "rap"alize lmao....Yah i woke up on the crazy side of the bed this mornin and Im sure none of those words are even correct or used with proper grammar or whatever but it was fun anyhow..

Hey all! You can all hate me or whatever. I became a christian long after leaving the group. Long drawn out deal learning to trust anyone let alone God. I didn't post to tell you about that. I don't come to this site to preach or PUSH my beliefs on anyone. My beliefs are my own, my choice. You choose your beliefs, I will respect that. I am here on this site cause of our past cult membership, that is what we have in common. We all think of ourselves as weird, not in the norm. But when I found the 'other' site, I was dumbfounded by the amount of people who were disgusted with the group. When I read most posts, I agreed and felt like some people took the words right out of my mouth. I was a bit shocked when I found this Focus on the family bashing topic/thread. I used to listen to Dr. James Dobson everyday on the radio. Now the kids are too loud in the car and at home to try and listen to anything but music. Dr. Dobson fights for what he believes in is right, and I respect that. There are some issues I don't believe are put out ther right. Some actually push people away that should not. I support him in his fight against Planned Parenthood. Anyway I started thinking that I do not belong here. But for now I've decided that one post to disagree with are pretty good odds(not counting all the Meehan supporters who appear here and there). Felt like I needed my opinion out there instead of keeping it to myself. I'm here for now, can't wait to see what your response is. christinev

Ahhhh Christine. Welcome to offtheemmis.com, where EVERYONE is free to his/her own opinion. Ya know if you made what you feel is an informed decision about YOUR spirituality, then who are we to tell you you're wrong. There is no one perfect religion or belief system in the universe, it just so happens that the majority of us on this site seem to view this particular subject in a similar manner. That doesn't mean that you don't belong and that your opinion is not welcome here. Quite the contrary. We can't all be good little left wing rebels can we? I just ask that you not come on here and critisize people for how they choose to live their lives if it differs from yours. That is my only request of anybody here with the exception of trying to talk the kool-aid drinkers out of the program. I trust you'll use your better judgement.
As for being suprised about the content of this topic, well this site was created to be a more free and open forum than the other site. Yeah we talk about cult stuff and meehan groups here, but we also just bs about random things. We talk about things we never could with each other before. We say things and give our free and honest opinions about random silly things and about serious things because we can now. Without fear of banishment or being singled out as "not a winner". To me, feeling like you have the freedom to honestly address anything from lego porn to Focus on the Family is an integral part of healing ourselves from the close mouthed fearful cult mind set. Hence the variations on site topics. Welcome Christine

Hiya Christinev, I, too, am Christian. I won't bash anyone for that. I think it's important to respect everyone's spiritual choice---especially if it differs from mine. Because that is what Christ did. He loved everyone. I also think it's God place to judge who is right and who is wrong in their spiritual beliefs. That is job I wouldn't want to have. Only God has that wisdom, ya know?
Having said all that, I will not tolerate bigotry in any way shape or form. I will not support an oragnization that purports itself as Christian when it spreads nasty lies and sows seeds of hate in young chilldren. Conseravtive Christian groups do that. They teach hate. They may mask it as "hate the sin not the sinner" but it is still hate. God does not hate. He may get sad, but he doesn't hate. "God is love." Case closed.
I don't care if people are any color of the rainbow or identify with the rainbow--God loves them as they are. Why? Because that is the way HE created them. No one chooses to be a certain race. No one chooses to be gay. It is what it is.
And 50 years ago Conseravtive Christains spoke out against interracial marriage. They believed interracial marriage was an abomination. Now.... well, not so much, eh?. I just hope I don't have to wait 50 years to see Gay marriage accepted, as it should be.
Sorry.... got off on a rant....
Anyhow, yeah... I support all spiritual beliefs. But bigotry and God don't mix.

just a quick post before I have to do the mommy thing..... GH--abso-fucking-lutely. I am not a Christian, by any means. But yes I agree with you on all points. I've always thought god was love, and if so how can all this hate exsist in these churches? I -again not Christian- pray for the day when we all can be more accepting.

Yes GH, I agree with you. What a great God who lets us choose how we will lead our life. I also have a problem with the statement "hate the sin, not the sinner." That statement is two faced. How can you say I love you , but... That's just not right. When speaking of sin-everyone does and Christ hates all sin-all the way from murder to white lies told not to offend others. But when we humans try to play judge it seems from my perspective impossible to differentiate the label of a certain sin with the person. My belief is summed up in John 17:17b "Your word(God's word/the bible) is truth." WhiteRabbit, I too pray for the day we can all be accepting, especially in the chrurch itself. It is sad how some are singled out. I have a brother-in-law who is gay and grew up in the church. He's a great guy. His own family has for the most part ostracized him for not doing what they want. When they themselves are divorcing, gossiping, and putting on their pretty clothes to go play church. I have to remember that we're all human and not one of us hasfigured out how to lead the perfect life. Anyway... Now on to the next topic... Now on to the next topic... GH I like the phrase 'bigotry and God don't mix' I may use it . Ok, I'm stopping... could go on and on. Just wanted to reply with a thanks for the acceptance.
