Alright, so something pretty damn funny happened at work today and I thought I'd share, I'm sorry if you all are sick of me telling stories about my job.
So, I'm a claims adjuster for homeowners insurance, and last week we got a ton of claims in from the monsoon storm here in AZ, so I was calling people and talking to them about what kind of damage they had to their home and whatnot. Basically just making the initial contact with the policyholders. So, I get this claim where this woman reported to her agent that she had a bunch of damage to her house that included trees blown down, a bunch of water in the garage, roof damage, etc. So I call the lady and I ask her what's damaged and she tells me that just a couple of awnings that go over her windows were damaged. So I ask about any other damage, she says no. I ask did she have any trees blown over, she says no, I ask did she have any water in the garage...again, no. Are you sure nothing else is damaged...no. I'm a little weirded out by it, how could her report to the agent a day before have so much damage and when I called her that day, she swore that it was only the awnings damaged?
I'm friends with a girl that works in the agent's office, so I called over there and asked what the deal was. She also thought it was really strange that this woman reported tons of damage but then changed her story when I called. She swore up and down that this is what the lady told her. So anyway I didn't think that much of it, this lady sounded kind of old, so maybe she was just forgetful or something.
Well, today I get a call from the girl in the agents office...apparently our policyholder has an aunt that lives with her who has alzheimers and this aunt likes to answer the phone and pretend she's our policyholder. I guess she does it all the time, impersonating this lady. Apparently she just loves to answer all kinds of questions and will just make all kinds of stuff up. I guess every day the lady gets home she has to go through her caller ID and look at all the numbers that called her during the day and then call them all back to make sure that they didn't talk to the aunt.
Ok, I know it's kind of sad, but seriously, I laughed my ass off....how funny is that? Anyway, I thought it was hilarious. I had to share.
