A couple of days ago at work a guy I work with cut his hand with a circular saw. Before that day I had never seen blood jet out of anyone like that. It had sprayed everywhere and everytime his heart beat, blood sprayed out. I sat him down in a fold out chair and wrapped his hand with a rag there were tendons hanging out of his wrist and it was unclear how many fingers were still on his hand. While waiting for the ambulance, I took out two of his clove cigarettes and lit them both. I stuck one in his mouth and the other in mine. I hung out with him until some more people came around. I then left to go look for any fingers which may have been cut off. I followed the trail of blood for about 150 yards when I found the area in which he was working. Luckily I found no fingers. I did find the offending circular saw though and it was covered in blood and tissue. I almost threw up but managed to hold it back. Soon the ambulance arrived and took this guy to the hospital into emergency surgery to repair severed tendons, veins, nerves and apparantly he had sawed into his wrist bone as well. Sort of made me feel like switching careers.

I'm sorry you had to see something like that. It can be really rough for people who aren't used to seeing shit like that. In my job, I've seen all kinds of horrible things. I've been puked on, peed on, bled on, held onto chunks of people untill they could be reattached, etc. I hope you don't suffer from any type of trauma due to this, because if you're not used to seeing stuff like that it can kind of fuck with you for awhile.

Yeah, I'm getting ready to complete my Bachelors of Science in Nursing, and it ain't pretty work. For the most part, being a med nurse at a carecenter isn't so bad. It's the hospital positions, wound nursing positions and sometimes hospice that can show you the haunting things. I choose to do it cause I'm good at it, and believe it or not, I am actually pretty good at treating people in my care with dignity and compassion. I try to imagine how I would want a family member treated if they were in that same boat(whichever boat it may be)and treat them accordingly without getting emotionally involved. It's a fine line, but I walk it alright.

Sorry to hear you had such a horrible day! I hope your coworker is going to be ok. What a horrible experience for both of you!
I am so glad my job doesn't involve such danger.

some people get the coolest life experiences.
Seriously, sorry it was a hard day, but I know I'd look back a while from now and enjoy living through situations like that.
I mean, I already do...
