awesome, I'm sure you'll have fun. no worries. Yeah, my biggest worries have to do with my absence from my daughter and the presentation(s) I'll have to give. Otherwise, I can't wait to go! oh yeah, learn this common Hebrew phrase that is used when on public buses: "execuse me, could you please move your uzi so I can pass by?" LOL! What is that in Yiddish? I HAVE to know! --T

LOL! I don't know yiddish, but my soldier boy's grandma knows yiddish. Yea...I guess that's not much help. Israel's great! I'll be there in about a month - but it's still not soon enough! Where about in Israel are you going to?

Oh, and one more thing, Israelis are VERY direct people. In everything. They push their way to the front. They don't really have lines there - so, you too, will have to just get in there and push your way to the front if you want something. Just FYI.

Try not to spend much money there. Remember any taxes you pay while there go directly to the oppression of Palestinians!!

ROFLMAO You guys are cracking me up! Thanks for the good advice on pushing to the head of the line, Fox. I think I've discovered a bit of my colleagues' directness. That's all I can say at the moment. hehe I am going to be staying in Herzliya, if I can get the hotel I want (woo hoo, right on the Mediterranean! Too bad I have to work while I'm there), and working in working in Petah Tikva or Haifa (I think it's the former though). --T

You are a ballsy chick. I'm a little bitch, you couldn't PAY me to go there. Shit, I'd probably have trouble being comfortable anywhere outside the U.S. given the current global opinion of Americans these days. Thanks alot Dubya, you glorified red neck.

Hey, it's not like Israel is a third world country, WD! And there hasn't been a bombing for awhile now. I think the last one was in Feb....? I can't remember - I was in the hospital though - I remember that. There was nothing on and it was like 6am and I was eating breakfast in the hospital and watching CNN when I heard about it. Then I text messaged my Israeli friends to see if they were ok. Ok, but anyway, it's relatively safe. Just don't take public transit, be careful of the scary taxi drivers - don't forget - more Israelis are killed in car accidents each year than by terrorists.

Um, I know it's not a third world country and I wasn't trying to act as if America is the cultural end all be all. I think I stated that my reasoning could be traced back to the current global opinion on America and the current elected President. I would have a problem being comfortable in Canada right now because of that, so terrorism has nothing to do with it. And I don't really recall using terrorism as a reason for why I wouldn't anyway in my previous post. I'm probably not as ignorant on the subject as I'm perceived to be.

I don't know what kids you've been hanging out with, but maybe they could give mine a few pointers on that theory.
